That's not a problem regarding locking the car. Clearly if you put your hand on the handle like your going to open it then the car is going to unlock. That is how the keyless system is designed to work. To lock, you simply touch the dimple on the handle. Can't see what the issue is here

Had my car since Friday, and I have to say the keyless is awesome, as is the electronic handbrake. Unless you're wanting to do handbrake turns, the electronic does everything for you, and with hill/auto hold it really couldn't be easier to operate this car.

Went to skeg and back and also took advantage of the ACC, which was by far in my opinion the best bit of tech on the car now. Setting it to 60, and it would speed up/slow down, and all you had to do was change gear when it told you to. Didn't need the accelerator for anything. Was the most unstressed and pain free journey I've had in a long time.

Nick Notts - Do you have a white GTI?  Saw one on the A158 coming out of Skegness this morning as I went into Skegness - looked awesome, can't wait for my GTD to arrive!

It's probably just as to easy to nick a car that isn't keyless but they don't mention that do they?

Funnily enough in the full article thefts of vehicles have been dropping due to more sophisticated protection, until keyless that is. This is not a one off btw there have been 100s, expect insurers to be asking if you have keyless entry on your next renewal.

Yeah, I agree.  The bottom line is that if they want to nick your car they'll nick your car.  That chap had the tracker, cctv cameras etc and they still pinched it.  We live in a society of (unts whereby some people would rather steal other people's stuff rather than working towards buying it themselves.  There is basically nothing you can do other than not doing silly things like leaving the car unlocked.

Keyless entry vehicles are currently easier to steal because you don't need to break into someones house to get the keys or be in possession of an original key.

This was occurring in BMW's and featured on Watchdog. Now VAG group will possibly be targeted.

BMW released an update whereby an original key needs to present in the slot and altered some other function to do with dropping windows down using the remote.

My keyless X-Trail needs the key to be in the cabin near the normal key input area to start.

As for thieves, they will take the car if they want it, keyless or not. I think it's a great option and I am gutted I did not take it as an option. (Don't know why I did not take it)

NickNotts, do you ever have to press the electronic handbrake? Does it deactivate when you press the accelerator and activate when you stop?  eg: at lights?

Also, the ACC sounds really great! Glad I specced it! (My wife and kids get car sick)

I'm glad I specified keyless and it was mainly due to everyone on here and some YouTube videos talking about it that persuaded me. I had to amend my original spec, but that was only a few weeks after placing the order.
