Keyless
« on: 15 September 2013, 11:41 »
Have been experimenting with the options on my recent arrival and think I remember reading a couple of posts about some probs people were having with keyless so have had a good play.

If i recall, one was that the radio turned off when you opened the drivers door with the engine still running. This does not happen on my car so wondering if the programming at the factory has recently been changed, in which case anyone's car set up that way should be able to have it reprogrammed easily by dealer/vcds.

The other one was about problems people were having with locking the car with keyless. I had this prob yesterday and was having to lock it with the fob - clearly not such a hardship but when you've paid the £££...! I did a search and found a thread on another forum - Jimble had contributed actually - and the solution given there works. When locking the car you cannot be gasping the handle in the way that may initially feel natural. Instead you have to touch/hold briefly the dimple only. I'm assuming that this is because any movement behind the handle knocks the unlock sensor and the two cancel each other out.

That's not a problem regarding locking the car. Clearly if you put your hand on the handle like your going to open it then the car is going to unlock. That is how the keyless system is designed to work. To lock, you simply touch the dimple on the handle. Can't see what the issue is here

If someone does that while you're sitting in the car, does it recognise the key is still inside and stay unlocked?

It won't lock if the key is inside.

Well that's good foresight lol. I'll be wanting a keyed ignition anyway. I've already had to give up my trusty handbrake, things are changing to fast for me!

Had my car since Friday, and I have to say the keyless is awesome, as is the electronic handbrake. Unless you're wanting to do handbrake turns, the electronic does everything for you, and with hill/auto hold it really couldn't be easier to operate this car.

Went to skeg and back and also took advantage of the ACC, which was by far in my opinion the best bit of tech on the car now. Setting it to 60, and it would speed up/slow down, and all you had to do was change gear when it told you to. Didn't need the accelerator for anything. Was the most unstressed and pain free journey I've had in a long time.

What do you do when you are washing the car and the key is in your pocket and the doors keep opening and closing when you wash over the handles :undecided:
