Ended up dropping out of the S4 due to hidden damage, So still in the gti!

That's a shame, what was wrong with it? So back on the hunt or stick with the GTI?

It was pretty much hit all round, and albeit the engine isn't the most reliable at that year but I was willing to accept the engine but not nearly a full respray.

I could go 50/50 at this point, there's a lovely M2 competition local to me (no sunroof or adaptive cruise though) or else I'll buckle down with the GTI and rebush it and upgrade the arms and subframe to mk8 / S3.

I'm perfectly happy with my GTI at the end of the day so have zero rush to change, I only change when I find a bargain, although I am noticing the mk7.5 is getting a lot more looks on the road at the minute.

Dodged the bullet there Wii.
The M2 sounds interesting. Lack of sunroof not a huge issue surely, unless you need an escape hatch after an oversteer incident! And adaptive cruise in an M2 Comp? Those things are drivers cars not sit in the lotus position picking your nose cars, that’s what 320’s are for.
Those things hold value really well, just like 7.5 GTI’s do.

I for one appreciate the baldy sunburn from sunroofs in the summer  If I went down the route of picking a car that was actually appropriate for me, I'd end up in a Tiguan or a Van but where's the fun in that?  Pick something you like and use it everyday and you get more value out of it than letting it sit in a garage for the 2 weeks of summer we get in a year.

I just noticed I got autocorrected to Wii!

The S4 avant/estate is almost a van!
Totally agree, buy a car you’ll enjoy, and you’ll certainly enjoy an M2.
But adaptive cruise when you have that engine? Noo noo nooo nooo!

I think we're in the minority now of people still wanting estate cars, everyone seems to want SUV's. I really don't know why when estates look so much better!

Regular 2 hour each way commutes is the reason for adaptive cruise, a smarter man would buy a 330d but I'm simple and like exhaust noise

New steel oil sump pan due to plastic one leaking.
Used genuine VW part from Tiguan.
Different fitting instructions from plastic one, but so far, so good (other than the fact that the first one came with a poorly machined thread for the sump plug so had to go back - and to think I went OE over fears of poor quality in some of the after market options..)

Realised today that when my TCR was in for service I asked for the lower control arm bushes to be greased and what the dealer have actually done is grease both CV boot gaitors 😖
What a set of absolute morons.

TCR, Pure Grey, DCC, Dynaudio and Climate Screen.

Slightly unusual case as it's a 2017 Clubsport S that previous owners have hardly used and I have done half its 7000 miles in the last 6 months. But 8 years and 7000 miles.
