No problem Jimble. I'm sorry to hear that you are having similar issues especially as you have just collected yours. I will let you know how I get on and will keep you posted on exactly what work they have carried out.

Looking forward to seeing some of your pics pal

Thanks mate, appreciate it.

I'm quite concerned with all these reports of loose screws, squeaks, creaks & leaks...it doesn't sound like the build quality we are used to with VW. I'm guessing they may have increased the speed of their production to get the cars out quicker and the quality is suffering as a consequence? Maybe the factories are under pressure to get the cars out quicker.

Yes the mud always used to drip onto the boot sill & make it look muddy. Shame it's not been fixed!

Unfortunately mate, this is exactly what expect from VW these days, the mk4 was the last of the well built Golfs and even that had it's issues! The pro's far outweigh the cons but it seems build quality isn't fantastic anymore.

The dealership is getting the PDR guy they use to sort it, as long as it's perfect i'll be happy, anything less then we'll have a big problem!!!

The MK4 the last of the well built Golfs?! You must be joking surely. The MK4 was mostly hopeless. Lots of soft touch plastics gave the illusion of quality but it was an illusion! The likes of the Focus of that era was better built and a much better drive to boot.

A quick question to all those having the dreaded door sill creaking. Have you had your car professionally detailed?
I ask because on a previous car I had the same problem after it was detailed. I couldn't get rid of it whatever I tried. I'm sure that's where the problem comes from - the detailers must use some cleaning solutions that creates the issue.

Not had it done on the Golf and it's completely silent.

Well I collected my car from the dealer today and I have to report so far so good. The rattle from behind the dash appears to have disappeared although I will need to test this more thoroughly. The technician basically said that they added more soundproofing foam to compress the wires/leads etc so that movement was restricted. They also sorted the noise coming from the door which was a loose speaker cable.

The only thing that has not quite worked are the creaking door seals. They did say that they had applied some lubricants but almost as soon as I drove off the noise was there. Not too concerned about this.

Everything appears to have been put back in order properly but I'll have a good look round tomorrow in the daylight.

One other thing. I had intimated to them that I knew what the mileage of the car was so that they got the message. I.e. No long distance joyrides. I was trying to be subtle as I didn't want to come accross as a complete cock. Anyway when I collected tonight it had an extra 20 miles on the clock. Seems quite high to me.

Wasn't there a post on here somewere by a vw tech who said the dash rattle noises is normally the heater pipes rattling against each other and he had fixed quite a few so far?
