Paint
« on: 13 September 2013, 19:04 »
Currently on 4.5k including a trip to Berlin.

No stone chips whatsoever so far, I seem to remember the mk6 being peppered by this stage and having a mini respray done.

Maybe the paint is a bit better? Maybe the ACC helps?

Then again I still have a british winter to get through. :undecided:

Very reluctant to comment on this thread as fate is sure to play a cruel card

However, I cannot for the life of me see why ACC would prevent stone chips. You can be as far back from the car in front and still get struck by a stone that has been spun through another wheel at 70mph plus

I hadn't a single stone chip on my MK6 after 25k miles. My mk5 before that had quite a few. None on the mk7 yet. Pot luck I think.

ACC, when used, keeps you well back from the car in front, that must reduce the chance of stone chips, even when not in use you get the display indicating you are too close.

And the red, audible warning if you get van man close.

Yes, but your not going to sit 100 meters back from the car in front and even at that distance you can get hit

ADC = Automatic distance control, much more relevant acronym when talking about the car  keeping it's distance from the car in front to minimise stone chips to avoid confusion with the adaptive chassis control (ACC also and DCC). VWs fault, why couldn't they call it ADC with CC?
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

Its called Adaptive Cruise Control in the car menus.

Not sure about the manual, I'll check later.
