Its called Adaptive Cruise Control in the car menus.

Not sure about the manual, I'll check later.

Don't know why they had to make things so confusing. Found a very handy thing with ADC/ACC/??? looking through the manual. You can set your safe distance for the warning system on the fly by pressing the central button in the set of buttons on the left side of the steering wheel. Could be handy if erring on the side of caution makes lots of false alerts or giving such a big gap that others are habitually pulling in, in front of you. Keep pressing it and a graphic shows a view in front of the car with a bar that flits between the 5 distance settings.

Handier than stumbling through the menus while on the move.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

ADC vs ACC
Maybe we are oversimplifying it.

Active Distance control- This is the cars ability to keep its distance from the car in front.

ACC Adaptive cruise control- This statement doesn't mean the same thing, it indicates that the cruise control has the ability to adapt to different situations. It may be a higher function of the cruise control for example

ACC has several systems including City emergency braking, Front assist, Post collision braking, ADC, Lane assist and the speed limiter.

I'm no expert but it may explain why there are different terms.

Its a bad idea to use ACC in my opinion.  Talking about adaptive/dynamic chassis control its best to use DCC, talking about cruise its best to use ADC.  If you use ACC then its ambiguous if its the chassis or the cruise that is being refereed to.  Not to mention that ACC can also mean automatic climate control as well!

If you stick to ADC and DCC then there is no confusion.

We all know you are "right" mate you don't need to prove it.  I'm just saying to avoid confusion don't use ACC.  There are so many threads on here talking about ACC that end up with people talking cross-purposes and and this is yet another one.

I don't understand.

Why not call it ACC if that is the correct term?

Well maybe it is just me but when someone says ACC I don't know if they mean the cruise or the chassis or half a dozen other things.  DCC and ADC are unambiguous so isn't it better to use them instead?  ACC seems to most commonly be used to refer to the chassis.  Sometimes you can figure it out from context but I find there is always some doubt what people mean, either the OP or the replies to it.

There is no mention of ADC in the manual or car menus.

ACC is Adaptive Cruise Control

DCC is Adaptive Chasisis Control (yes, this one is confusing,  Dynamic Chassis Control would have been better).

Not helped at all by the fact some of these have changed since the mk6.

This topic hurts my head

I'm going to have to write these on a sticky note and leave them on the steering wheel. For a month at least.

Well you'll need to go educate everyone to this because most people use ACC to mean chassis control, not cruise control.  Here is an example from today: http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=254838.msg2381915#msg2381915

I propose its just so much easier to not use ACC at all and go with DCC and ADC since everyone knows what those terms mean.
