Leather options on GTD

Having scanned through the Mk7 golf brochure; I really like the far red leather that's available on the GT. but it doesn't appear that we have the option of speccing it on a GTD...

Does anyone know if you can special order? I think it's called Marrakech?

I asked the same question at ordering time and its not available even as a special. Its only black leather in GTD/GTI

Doesn't really make sense when the GTI/GTD is a higher spec car than the GT??

It's very much similar to the GT having standard sat nav and both the GTI and GTI not. It must have made sense to VW but I can't see the logic behind it

It's always been the way with the GTI/D. There was a cream leather option in early MK5's (where you also lost the black headlining) but they did away with it and it's been any colour you like ever since so long as it's black.

Shame really coz most GTI/D colours would look immense with red leather seats.

TBH, if you want leather, it's probably best to go after market anyway. VW will force you down the plain black route for a whopping £1,675.00, and the leather isn't exactly what I would call superb quality (well if my MK5 Golf was anything to go by anyway).

Going after market with a UK reputable re-trimming company not only gives you an infinite pallet of colours to choose from, but also options like perforated leather, leather / alcantera mix etc, and when I investigated doing this for my Scirocco, it also worked out cheaper than the factory option !

never really thought of it like that.

I've never done it, but my brother has in his various Range Rovers - he's had (even) fancier leather put in and tv's in the back and they are at a fraction of what a factory order would be costwise.
