it's embarrassing now and people laugh with disbelief. I'm never buying a vw again after this.

Do you really, really mean this? Sad if true. Rotten that VW have led people to think of their brand in this way. Makes me mad!

I hope when all this is over, you're driving your new car, and the dust settles you'll feel differently.

The key lesson to learn here [for me] is to steer clear of pre-launch ordering and wait a year until things calm down. Easier said than done. In reality people who ordered late march as order books opened should be getting their cars first. Stands to reason - no question!

yes it'll be great driving around in the winter conditions now that summer is over

A summer delivery would have been nice but winter does have its benefits - shorter days, longer nights - more of a chance to enjoy the ambience lighting in the car which from all the photos I have seen looks the mutts!

You would think vw would learn as they pissed off lots of owners who waited for the mk6 the same way 7 months was the wait there for a while.
One way of changing the owner demographic I guess by making people never buy one again. Lol.

It's certainly making me think again.  My experience buying a Mark 6 was a disaster; VW appear to have learned absolutely nothing.  Customer service is still appalling and dealers are still clueless.

I really don't want to go through another experience like that again.  The cars may be fantastic, but is it really worth all that pain, stress and inconvenience?

I still haven't signed on the dotted line for the mk7 yet! and yes I will never buy a VW group car again and will let them know this too. seems a common trait of VW that they can't organise a p4ss up in a brewery when it comes to making cars for people and that is compounded by the arrogance of vwuk and the dealers. makes you laugh when the CEO of VW says they will be the best car maker very soon and that includes customer service. he needs putting in a white coat now f4cking bell end! clueless

I had 2 Japanese cars when I first passed my test (lucky to be given my dads old driving school car Nissan sunny) and to be perfectly honest they were the best cars I've ever had. they went all boring and old man styling in the mid nineties and I can't afford a gtr  best built cars I've ever owned and at the time the sunny zx hatchback was an impressive piece of kit. nothing the Japanese do now is like the golf but maybe in 5 years time who knows?

The only Japanese car I would remotely even think about in the price range i'm prepared to pay for a car would be a Nissan 350/370Z, but the fuel costs would make my cry. I find Japanese cars very dull in the main. I'm not saying German cars are hugely exciting to look at, but they do hot versions well and they look "handsome" if not exciting. Honda Civic R was a polished turd in the looks department IMO, looking like a pensioners car with side skirts, and that was the best Japanese GTI rival out there.

If I had to leave German cars behind, i'd probably look towards a hot Alfa, but wouldn't buy new because of their poor residuals.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

I had a look at the GT86 and wasn't impressed at all by the materials used in the cabin. The cabin just looked dated and nasty. Also think its considerably under powered
