thoughts on mk1 wheels
« on: 05 September 2013, 11:30 »
I've been offered some "tarantula" mk1 golf alloys, like the ones in this pic:

(these are not them, just a Google image search)

I know they're not the most desirable but I kind of like the retro-ness and just wondered what anyone thinks of them on a early small bumper mk2 GTi. Would they go or look out of place?

And what options for refurb could make them work? It's on a white car so possible bright colour or maybe polished ????

if you like them then that's all that matters.

If you are going with OEM look then go for it.

This is true, but not really an opinion on how they would look on a Mk2...
I like those older wheels on a Mk1 or a mk2 Scirocco, but feel they would be a sideways step on a Mk2 Golf.

Could be made to look nice by painting a darker silver, and polishing the lip to a mirror finish

I still think a set of mint G60 steelies take a lot of beating on a Mk2, for a timeless look

Personally I think 13's are too small for a Mk2. The tyres will be cheap tho'.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.
