Green nipples on GTi (vacuum?) Hose
« on: 20 August 2013, 17:48 »

What do these do?

Should they be allowing air into the system or are they meant to be an airtight seal?

If I place a finger over the end of them whilst the engine is running I can feel suction.

Cheers

should be air tight, when you plug them you'll notice the idle settle (or you should) and I believe only available with the pipe! (I taped mine)

thanks - will seal them but what are they supposed to do?

It's unlike a car manufacturer to put 'spare' bits on a car :)

That's a non return valve you kind of need it, just make sure the ports are blanked off

my green blank had melted underneath on mine, so like you thought i'd just blank it...but when i went to take of the melted green blank the whole stub tube just snapped off the one way valve, so be careful..!

i ended up using a soldering iron to melt plastic across the hole to seal it in the end, with a view to getting another one at some point....but never got around too it yet...

One of my nipples was broken at the end and was making it idle rough. Just happened to stumble across it when my rubber glove got sucked into it! Lol. Blocked it with some chemical metal (all I had in the garage) and now she idles sweet :-)

thanks guys, idle is fine, just need to work out why it seems low on power around 2k revs - tried 2 different MAFs and both give the same result
