Hello everyone!
« on: 08 August 2013, 08:48 »
Hi everyone,

I've been lurking on this forum since I ordered my new GTI about a month ago and thought it was about time I joined up!!

Anyway hello everyone and thanks for the entertaining reads so far, its good to see I'm not the only one frustrated with long lead times but all being well I should hopefully be getting mine at the end of October.

Really looking forward to getting the Golf as was very impressed with the way that it drives and whilst the performance isn't exactly ground breaking compared to my previous cars as an all rounder it's hard to beat and the running cost (at least compared to an M car are peanuts!!)

Welcome Jeff. To be fair, if you only ordered last month (July) and are expecting delivery in October, then that's pretty good. A number of others including me ordered back in April and won't take delivery probably until early next month, so your only a month or so behind us !

Or even the last few days in March. You're looking at nigh on the standard Golf Lead time in your situation Jeff - hope you haven't ordered the rear camera though, or the question coould be "which October?".

It'll be worth the wait - had a test drive in a local demonstrator yet?
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

Welcome aboard Jeff, nice choice of car :)  You'll certainly be lucky if you get yours in the timescales you have been misled on ;)

Welcome Jeff. Nice spec you have chosen. The car might be a bit down in power compared to your previous rides but you won't regret it as its an awesome car. Plus there's always a remap

Cheers guys, certainly know how to cheer a guy up

The dealer seems pretty adamant the build week is 41.... I'll guess we'll see!!

Although the golf isn't a patch on e92 M3 I won't miss the large service bills and astronomical thirst for super unleaded!! I had a pretty good test drive of one without the performance pack and was impressed with grip out of corners for a FWD car

Has anyone driven the performance pack and non performance pack to compare??

Someone also mentioned a remap..... Have seen little about this from the usual suspects in VAG world Revo, AMD, Custom code etc I'm presuming this is because the car is so new??

Has there been a definitive spec of the turbo etc come out for this engine as I'm guessing the new S3 has the same EA888 gen 3 but surely with a bigger turbo to make 300bhp out the bag...
