I didn't think to check.....

If they are anything like the diesels - they take a while to 'loosen up' and start pulling mpg closer to the book figure.
My mates MK7 GT Diesel when he fist got it was doing low 40's - 6000 miles later - its doing close to 60.

Never seen any significant mpg gains in running in my last 6 new VWs, seen power gains though (maybe I make use of that extra power, negating the mpg gains that would've been if I hadn't driven it any harder). With VW also boasting reduced friction surfaces in the new engines and ever improved tolerances, running in gains should be lower than ever. Hope to be proved wrong on that point with my GTD.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

To be honest mate - if I get between 50 - 60 with the GTD - I'm happy - I get about 50 with my Mk6 GT TDI so its no biggy
However - based on the figures I have got from the GTI - as good as it is - I wouldn't have one!

I will see what I get tomorrow on the long trip buddy - I have a feeling it will be mid 30's to 40 if driven sensibly - which I will do
its a 200 mile round trip - mainly Mway -  with A roads.

I've only done about 150 miles so far but the average mpg has not been great. So far between 25-28mpg, I'm hoping this is going to improve.

Totally agree with Rik about its head turning abilities. Particularly noticed with others driving Golf's. Some of the expressions on their faces are priceless when they realise what they see coming towards them. Brilliant!!

I'm finding the Audi A3 drivers are the ones most interested - one even stopped to look at it parked on the road the other day - then Roared off in racer boy fashion when he saw me heading out !
The other thing is - and the wife told me this - the noise from the outside, which I don't notice while inside - she says it has that 'burble' and 'popping' noise that attracts attention.

I did wonder about the noise cause I must say I can't hear anything in the cabin. The car sounds epic in all the reviews I've seen but its very quiet to me.
