Audi needs new rear damper
« on: 01 August 2013, 09:49 »
Hey guys, one of my rear dampers is weeping and needs replacing. Can I get away with just a straight swap or should I do both? Cheers, Sam

Do both as the other will fail at some point.  Plus you won't have any issues with handling.

I'm kinda asking this from a 'will it kill me' stance rather than 'will it effect my handling at all?'. I simply can't afford 2 rear dampners on top of all the other stuff I have had to order due to my car been completely f**ked.

So put a secondhand one in for now and replace the pair when you can afford it, you tight-assed pikey git.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

Yes Sam, you can get away fitting just the one to get you by, though the other shocker wont be far behind before it leaks...

Things can get very twitchy with just one shock gone. Clio would lose back end without warning when turning left when the right hand rear blue and after just changing the one while at Alton Towers it did it going right a tad. Not as bad as before but was perfect after I swapped the other.

Also cheap judt doesn't last the same as a decent pair.

How do you know they were replaced as a pair before ?

Or if the other side has even been replaced just before he bought it ?

Just saying
