Part Question
« on: 24 July 2013, 19:05 »
Anyone know where i can get a timing chain kit for a v6? Or know the price of one from VW (they're shut at the moment). Decided that the engine management light being illuminated and the sound of timing chain rattle isn't a good thing. On the up side i've been quoted £200+Vat for labour.

I got the code Crankshaft position sensor bank 2 P1347, that generally means the timing out? Do you know if the tensioner can be replaced fairly easily and if the tensioner would cause the timing to be out?

Seems cheap do they know how involved it is to replace it.

The timing chain is normally on the opposite side of the clutch, the front of the engine

it's a mate of mine, he quoted me for 4 hours labour. He worked for an independent garage, then moved to working for halfords and now hes back at an independent. I told him it was a gearbox out job too..
