You need to get someone with VCDS to turn it on. The beep is off by default in the UK.

Hang on, do you mean it only flashes when the alarm goes off or when you lock it? If it's the former then you have a fault so should get it inspected.

If its just flashing when the alarm goes off its a faulty siren. Known issue. Mine failed and had to be replaced. There's a thread about it somewere on here by me.

My GTD flashes once when you turn it on and three times when you turn it off. I don't want the noise when you arm it as already mentioned you can turn this feature on with VCDS.

My alarm sounder was also replaced under warranty.... I had no idea it was faulty!

Although they forgot to clear the fault log afterwards... Tsk...

Just found out my alarm only flashes the indicators, siren does not sound when tom tom sat nav fell off the dash and activated the alarm when the car was parked and locked. Sadly car is 3 months out of warranty.
The alarm might not have been working for a long time so it might be worthwhile for all you guys to test your alarm before the warranty runs out.
