help needed with moped
« on: 19 July 2013, 10:20 »
Hi there don't know if this is the right section or not, sorry if not. I have a Peugeot speedfight 2 50cc liquid cooled, last weekend I went on a 15 mile ride to get mot done passed with just little problems so I was pleased considering it has been stood up for bout 3 years before I got it, riding it back got 13 miles home then it desided to die on me and I couldn't get it started again. Ended up pushing it the remaining 2 miles home in baking hot heat, so stripped it down and found it has no spark, first thing I did was changed plug then the cdi immobilizer box still nothing. Does anyone have any ideas what it could be as I looked on various web sites and all say cdi box. Pug-club.co.UK haven't got back to me so they ain't all that good so hopping you lot may help. Thanks if anyone has advice, apart from burn it or scrap it.

no advice other than that this is a vw CAR forum, and probably not the best place to ask about a french moped.

Did you check for power to this 'cdi' box?

does it have a HT lead or a coil pack that's dodgy?

if these have been checked then throw it in a river

I asked scooter forum and they couldn't help. Just thought therefore a wide diversity of people on here someone may have some experience with them. Can't throw in river as not insured for that.

get a wireing diagram for it and just work through checking continuity and +/- volts are preesent where and when should be.

corrosion in connecetors,  and try a neew plug  2 stokes are hateull littel things and like to bugger up plugs in weird and wonderfull ways and theere really fussy about spark

tho TBH if its not a simpel fix id be tempted to decalare it f**ked, moped engines are hatefull things,  and there are usally loads variations on each part for each year  with anything french or bike related so add teh two together and it chould be a nightmare also once they've started paying up the fecking things only get worse they are desinged to be cheep and disposable at the end of the day
all the VW's have gone bar 1.
