yes cdi box's can be an issue with these, i take it you held the plug against the head when you tried for a spark? you say its a kick start but they have a electric starter dont they? some will need the battery to be fully charged to work.

im not on much but will make an effort to come on and help out if i can, been a honda motorcycle tech former on 16yrs
