I had a strange grovelling email today from Audi, after I emailed saying the a3 was on hold whilst I explored other options.  They apologised for not getting back to me when they said they would, and the sales manager was hungry for sales, what could they possibly do.  I just said to wait whilst I thought about it.

Incidentally, Audi sales are the worst I've ever dealt with, I've had cause to complain to managers of 2 sales staff..no response.  So I complained to audi uk.. nothing.  I've never come across such a rude and aloof bunch before.

I'm just thinking now about the performance pack, it's no different on insurance, and the ACC.  Is it worth it, or will I only get the enjoyment on track?

My view of Audi has gone very down hill since 6 years ago when I had a TT.  I made a call to Cambridge Audi a few weeks ago to enquire about the S3 and was treated to 8 mins of bull on the phone about how great it is, how amazing it is, how they would love to get me into the showroom etc.  then when I finally shut him up he said he wouldn't have a demo car until November !

Then  for the next 3 days I received 3 phone calls from Audi customer service asking how was my experience etc etc and I explained to them it was shocking and I only made one phonecall so why are they harassing me..

Audi dealers ( and some but not all ) of their drivers appeared to have developed an arrogance way above their station..

Yes they are arrogant, even more than bmw dealers and drivers now.

I currently have a 330 ci   but it is petrol and a coupe, in imola red, with manual box !

Joking aside bmw dealers in my experience are way better than Audi, and I think their cars are much more fun to drive, as well made and now more understated / cool.

I would have considered the m135 a lot more if it was better looking but it's just too ugly to spend 30k on !

BMW are offering some crazy discounts at the moment, plus big dealer deposits. Clearly sales are down so it's a good time to buy one.

Frankly I just wanted a GTI.  Next time around I'll look at the 2 series or something, see if they can get a good looking performance car for the right amount of money...

Had a chat with the dealership today, he didn't come close to the DTD price but he said if that deal didn't go through he could give me a 10% discount at most.  Pity as I thought he was one of the best salesman I've dealt with and I wouldn't have minded giving him the business.

So after umming and arring and messing with the options, I've pretty much chosen everything  Gold GTI with Carbon Grey paint, PP and ACC.

This really is my dream car, thanks everyone for pushing me towards it! Much better than the A3. I shall update the "ordered" topic once my build date comes through.

Cheers guys :)

10% is still fantastic!!!!!! Most I went to had a small allocation and wouldn't even consider ANY discount!! Eventually I hind a nice dealer who gave me around 7% off.

I'd bite his hand off for 10%

DTD works out around 14%, for that I don't mind driving miles to pick it up.
