I had a strange grovelling email today from Audi, after I emailed saying the a3 was on hold whilst I explored other options.  They apologised for not getting back to me when they said they would, and the sales manager was hungry for sales, what could they possibly do.  I just said to wait whilst I thought about it.

Incidentally, Audi sales are the worst I've ever dealt with, I've had cause to complain to managers of 2 sales staff..no response.  So I complained to audi uk.. nothing.  I've never come across such a rude and aloof bunch before.

I'm just thinking now about the performance pack, it's no different on insurance, and the ACC.  Is it worth it, or will I only get the enjoyment on track?

mistertee, IMO the PP is a no brainer. Have a read through the reviews thread and most reviewers will agree.

Depends how you drive I guess!  How fast do you push it round corners?  To be honest I doubt you'll see the benefit.  £980 is a lot so how many corners, and how much better do those corners have to be, before you got your money's worth?

Having reached the above conclusion I spec'd it. Might help with traction in the ice I suppose.

Ha ha I had the same conversation with my mate.  We weighed up the pros and cons, worked out the mileage I did, the cost against this..then decided it would just be cool to get it.

PP done.  Anyone getting ACC?

Actually neither ! I did pop into wind rush but wasn't impressed with their service to be honest and they offered 1500 off plus 2750 for my bmw, no offer of a test drive..I ended up with more than a grand better overall deal from the one I ordered from.

I ordered from northgate vw in Bury st edmunds up in Suffolk ( gf lives that way) and they were really good, they offered an extended test drive min 3 hours on my own and were great to negotiate with, when I Took in the email with my best deal, they matched it and threw in a tank of fuel.

I liked the guy I dealt with too, he was honest but not pushy, knew they had a good product but fully appreciated is job was to sell me a car at the right price, and he didn't try too hard to flog me tyre insurance, gap insurance etc etc.

Where did you order from ?

My view of Audi has gone very down hill since 6 years ago when I had a TT.  I made a call to Cambridge Audi a few weeks ago to enquire about the S3 and was treated to 8 mins of bull on the phone about how great it is, how amazing it is, how they would love to get me into the showroom etc.  then when I finally shut him up he said he wouldn't have a demo car until November !

Then  for the next 3 days I received 3 phone calls from Audi customer service asking how was my experience etc etc and I explained to them it was shocking and I only made one phonecall so why are they harassing me..

Audi dealers ( and some but not all ) of their drivers appeared to have developed an arrogance way above their station..

I was in the exact same position as you mate, looking at specced up audi a3s but then i thought to myself all i have ever wanted is a gti though i never thought i could afford one.
Decided to go to a dealer and was surprised by the monthly payments. Test drove one 2days later and immediately ordered one.
Im 25 and i probably cant afford it but i just thought 'go for it'.

I noticed someone was looking at a demo m135 because the wait for their gti was taking too long.  I think the residuals on that car are going to tumble fast.. On the bmw website, I checked the finance for. 3k mile car costing 29k, and the GFV after 3 years was around 12k.. That compares to my GTi I ordered net price about 26.5k and GFV after 3 years of 13.8k..

Granted the bmw was not quite brand new but if they are forecasting those residuals, its for a reason.  The monthly payment with same deposit was 450 v 298 for the Golf !
