Hello all,
I was in the process of buying a spec'd up Audi A3 1.4, because I wanted to be "sensible", but the voice from the corner kept whispering.."golf gti, golf gti..". I've tried to buy a golf gti a few times over the years, but it always fell through due to cost etc. Having driven a mk5 and a mk6 I know how nice they are to drive, I've sat in the mk7 so I know it's quality on the inside, and I'm pretty sure it will be good to drive too.
Out of curiousity I priced up a mk7, and was surprised to find it's significantly cheaper in terms of tax and insurance over the mk6. The fuel cost is pretty much the same as my current Honda Civic Type S, so I might go for it.
Just want to know a few things;
1. what is the real world mpg? I will open a can of worms here with people saying "if you're worried about mpg don't get a gti", but at the end of the day I have to spend it so I might as well know upfront what it will cost to run.
2. what's the experience of unwanted attention, carjacking etc. From what I heard the audi's/bmw's are more likely to be stolen.
Drive the deal have a saving of about £3.5k with the adaptive chasis and performance pack. I can't believe a dealer will get close to that.
Thanks.
