They will no doubt expand the colour range in a few years to freshen up the car

They don't really have a history of doing that. The MKV and MKVI also had flashy colours available in Germany but never in UK or IRL.
What they have done with the 5 and 6 is throw in leather as standard (no more cloth) and one or 2 other smaller goodies in the run out models...

They usually substitute a poor selling colour with something else. They did this with the Scirocco, swapping Pewter Grey (a mid grey metallic with a slight purple hue) for another Grey I forget the name of (a very flat/plain grey with no undertones).

In Germany they have the option of paying a lot more for a much wider range of colours. This involves having the bodyshell constructed on-site and then shipped to another site that routinely has the colour you want to get painted up in their paint shop and then shipped back to Wolfsburg for construction. You pay about 1800 Euros for the priviledge. Audi do a similar scheme in the UK to widen the colour palette - again at significant cost.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

I was following a regular mk7 in silver for about 20 minutes earlier today.  It looked good.  Especially from a slight angle from the rear.  Silver is not a colour that I think suits the GTI but the light colour and the reflections really showed off the shape of the car and the details like the creases.

A while later I followed a rather dirty regular mk7 in black around a roundabout.  Looked awful.  Yet a black GTI I think looks pretty good! :undecided: I think a lot of it might come down to the fact it looked like it had been a month without a wash.

I actually saw a regular mk7 golf in tornado today, with the pano roof fully open and it looked  in my view, roof glass looked bigger than I first thought..

Glad to hear you're getting treatment Gordor

In all seriousness I've never been a fan of silver cars. IMO its probably the most bland colour there is.

Nice one Jimble, I'm with Craig in that I really don't like silver cars, apart from a Silver GTI or GTD and this one looks class in TS
