It flashes orange mate then goes off it happens every start up cheers

My old 2.0 mk4 did this, It was the oil sensor in the sump that was fooked.

It used to say 'Oil Workshop' when 1st started.

You can get new sensors for £30

Bonnet catch is for alarm and heads to convenience module.   AFAIK, they are not linked as oil level sensor goes through car-engine loom plug T14a straight to the clocks.

Just out of interest could it have been the oil i used?  Or am i clutching at straws lol if so what oil should i be using cheers

no mate, they just stop working. Mine went after 94,000 miles, so it aint done bad. I had it vag com remove the message. Its only for oil level, just make sure you check your dipstick .
