Did you hold the salesman's kids at gunpoint until you both signed on the dotted line?  Can't see much margin in the car sale on it's own - must be chasing volume targets for VW UK bonuses.

I think most of their profit margin is is your extras - always helps the negotiations when there are options-a-plenty involved.

Yep - I think it works out that I basically paid just under list or he car and got all extras free - was amazed as no other dealers i went to were giving any discount apart from reduced gap/paint protection

I secured £2800 discount from a main dealer, was more than happy with that. £3500 would have been sweater though!
