Thanks for all the replies, its a tough one, there's a GTD with 45k and toys for £10,000 but its a 4 hour travel...

Looks great (it has 17s though), only drawback is its a completely different value so the amount of loan ill be taking would be less... Leaving issues if I arrived and it was a dud.

Don't rule out because you have to travel.

Wheels are easily changed.

If you want a bit more security buy from a used car dealer and check the warranty terms. You can then take it to a garage, have it checked/scanned and then get the garage you bought it from to pay up for any problems .

I have to admit the GTD in the looks department I think looks better than the GT, the performance is better in standard form, obviously you get climate standard in the GT late 2010 onwards is LED lights. I would say a GTD for 10k with 45k on the clock has something wrong with it. The 60k for 12K sounds like a correct price I got offered £12,750 for mine in september by VW with approx 70k on the clock on a 2010 April. I have 57K on the clock and it still trucks along like it was new no issues at all. Just look for full VW.

I offered 11,750 for the other but was refused, think I'm best to leave it for now, and see what comes up?

Just typical the mk4 is playing up for the first time in years and I'm going away next week so a new car would be ideal!

Was thinking 11,750 would put me in a good position to buy a 510 head unit or parking sensors.

Don't lose the car for what, in hindsight, will turn out to be a few £s. You can wait anothe month or two to upgrade the head unit etc.

If I want it itl be £12,000 with 3/4 tank of fuel. MOT N TAX due in October, oh how bartering for cars has changed... Not even dealerships will budge on golfs.

I will potentially be doing 15k a year do thinking 60 to start with is on the higher side.

It has the Bluetooth add on that clips on the dash, optional 18s.

Here's a Q does anyone else knock there hand against the centre console putting it in 3rd or 5th? I remember it was a niggle on the mk6 GTI... Guess you just change your hand position lol.

£24 for a pair of Skoda Yeti tips fixes that.

Yes at that price it seems a little suspect.

OP - Buy on condition not mileage where possible, 60k is nothing to be worried about.

At 15k a year you may want to consider a GTI if you can source one for a bit less than a GTD.
