I always pay the extra and use ba valet parking make sure the driver is aware of a scratch free car then sign that way any scratches their liable, also their stored away from numpty's with cases. After all we spend so much on hols and cars what's another £50 extra for peace of mind. Iv used valet parking at stansted and Gatwick several times and touch wood always no scratches.

For last few years we've used a reputable gatwick meet and greet valet service and have not had any issues at all.  Hopefully this year will be no different (but I still worry!).  Cost is only about £20 more than normal airport parking and is hassle free, especially useful if you have kids in tow.  Just hope it doesn't get covered in bird crap for 2 weeks.  Going to give it a good wax before we go.

Sorry to hear about the damage but you will be able to pick the repairer you want it sorted at .
I left our new gtd at the airport hotel while on holiday last year I picked the spot to park and at end of row away from most other cars and its the first time ever I have been worried about a car left there SAD or what ! !. .

The woman who hit me has accepted full resposibility so I don't have to pay any excess but will my premium still go up? If so what a joke! 20 years insurance and I have never made a claim and this claim isn't my fault whatsoever!

Going back to the lights I have just played dumb but I think there is going to be an issue as the are not VW lights which means they will have to source 1 light which is going to be tricky! Or they could just get me a full set of OEM VW ones 

After thinking about the incident if it had been a couple of seconds later, it wouldnt have only been the car that got hit it would have been me as well as that is where I always start to wash my car

As regards to declaring raer LED's on my insurance I never even gave it a thought, I can declare any mods and it doesnt affect the premium so will wait until I get her back then let them know what I've done

Always think it's wise to declare mods then you're on safe ground in the event of anything happening 

Is there much difference looks-wise between your rear LEDs and the OEM VW ones?  If the insurer assumes they are OEM then wouldn't they just replace the damaged one?  Hope you don't end up with mismatched lights!

Dont think there is much difference looks wise, but there will be all sorts of issues when it comes to get them working as VW OEM need coding and wire adapters whereas mine are just plug and play so having 2 different lights wont work

I would just take your car to your preferred bodyshop, be upfront and tell them about the rear lights and were you sourced them from, end of the day its just another job to them and will see things that are not oem all the time, if you tell them were they are from it makes life easy for them  and will not have any coding issues when putting back together,
 
My wife's UP! is in the bodyshop at the minute a car backed into that in her works carpark, not even 500 mile on the clock, makes my piss boil that some drivers are so irresponsible

The insurer would work off your chassis code so this would highlight the fact they are not oem, everything non standard needs declaring to your insurer.
