Really sorry to see your damage, Ozzbi. From the pictures, it looks as if the rear quarter panel isn't damaged, so a new bumper and light cluster should have it looking good as new. Small consolation, I know, but at least you caught the offender in the act.

Slightly off topic but on the parking theme commented on by others in this thread; I hate parking in a public car park, and always try and park away from others. Why is it when I park 'miles' away from everyone else, will someone almost always insist on parking right next to my car - usually really close - when there are loads of other spaces they could choose. I also hate airport car parks, having suffered damage to my previous Golf in one a couple of years ago.

The rear LED lights are aftermarket and I haven't told my insurance about them 

Now, do I play dumb and say they were on the car when I bought it or do I tell them about the lights.

It's going to be an insurance job and she has already admitted liability to her insurance.

Forgot all about my voluntary £400 excess as well which was another kick in the balls

I've always had a large excess to bring down the premium and I've never had to pay it (18 years no claims upto now touch wood)

Just say the lights were installed already or don't mention it. Don't give them an excuse to stitch you up over a trivial matter.

I live in fear of car park dings from clumsy f##king people or people who don't care about cars. With kids parent and child spaces are a must. Unfortunately my youngest is now 8, how much longer can I use them without the dirty looks?

Unfortunately many people seem to have a lack of respect for other peoples property regardless of value.

The main thing is to make sure that you insist that it goes to your approved repairer. Despite what they will try to tell you to begin with, you do not have to have it bodged at their "preferred" body shops.

I know how you feel.  We bought our GTi brand new on September 1st and we were going on holiday later the same week, meaning leaving our few day old car at the airport for 2 weeks..........we got a hire car instead

We left my 3month old 3 series at the airport whilst we went on hols for 2 weeks, sure enough a light scratch has appeared on the o/s rear door ear the bottom, looks like someone has dragged their suitcase past it

My only consolation is that its a company car and I have no emotional ties to it,to really the point though.

I know it's so baffling how someone would do that, I always park like that and you get some knobhead parking next to you.

The other thing is bloody learner driver instructors in supermarket car parks using your car as a parking measure toy for the bloody Learner driver to park next too

I always pay the extra and use ba valet parking make sure the driver is aware of a scratch free car then sign that way any scratches their liable, also their stored away from numpty's with cases. After all we spend so much on hols and cars what's another £50 extra for peace of mind. Iv used valet parking at stansted and Gatwick several times and touch wood always no scratches.
