It DOESN'T base the route on how the crow flies. I've never come across a nav unit that does that.

I'm not talking about the route I'm talking about the suggested closest stations.  I've made this clear in each post.  I was asking how it indicates which are the closest filling stations BEFORE you pick one and ask it to guide you.  Is it clear where each station is located before you choose which to go to or is it just a list like the pic I posted?

Anyway, forget it.  Its not important I was just curious.

Thanks Joe

Those rear lights look tremendous!!

I tried taking pics of the front end at night and the interior but the photo quality was shocking. Using an iPhone camera coupled with my poor camera skills.

Front end does look much better lit up than the MK6 xenons. The "fairy light" LED DRL's in the MK6 were a tad naff.

The interior is beautiful at night, no question about it. The door cards look amazing, little LED's in the door armrest and in the door open handle... and that red strip. The white lighting in the instruments also looks amazing.

Cheers joe. Looks great and looks like there's lots of toys to play with!

Are the interior pics really that bad to post? Not seen an interior pic at night so intrigued to see even if its a bit blurred.

It was so bad I deleted it! I'll give it another go if I can dig out my proper camera.

Thanks Joe.

I've seen this type of thread on other forums where people post up cool features they've discovered in the MK7 that wouldn't be obvious at first glance or in the manual (if you read it?!)...

1. I was driving into work this morning and I noticed the Climate Control has a "Setup" button. When I pressed it, the Climate settings appeared on the radio screen, showing an interior image of the car! There were various climate settings I could then fiddle with via the media screen. Very cool.

2. You never need to touch the electronic handbrake. Just forget it. Leave the HOLD button on permanently and the handbrake engages and disengages itself whenever appropriate. I thought I'd hate this but it's genius.

3. Rear cup holders no longer in the centre console front armrest. There's a cupholder either side of the rear bench (3 door).

4. The bluetooth connectivity is far better than the MK6. BT audio streaming works a lot better - track names/artists and it will play where you left off rather than  having to pull out the phone and manually "play" again via the phone.

5. Several people have asked me why the car doesn't have front fogs. You can barely see them. Very clever design.. once lit, they are obvious!

6. Static cornering lights - these are really impressive! The corners of the car light up brilliantly when you are turning left/right. The light is built into the main light housing. I had mistakenly thought it was the fogs.

7. Another feature I thought I'd hate - Stop/Start. It works very well. Car starts instantly when required, no delay. The car is so quiet and smooth on tickover anyway that I barely even notice that the engine has stopped.

8. The MFD has a lap timer!!! I haven't played with it yet.

9. A lot of settings that you'd have had a button on the dash for in MK5/6, are now controlled via the media screen, such as the tyre pressure monitor, the brightness of the dash / ambient lights, etc. The media screen is like a lite version of BMW iDrive!

10. Mirrors fold on locking and unfold when you start ignition. I love this. It can be disabled too though.

11. Keyless entry, for those that have it, is a great feature. I'm still getting used to not having to fumble around for the key or look for the ignition slot.

12. I was a bit worried that the standard radio/Nav screen is a bit smaller than the RNS 510 I had in the MK6. And yes, it is noticeably a bit smaller, but the functionality, ease of use, Maps resolution / detail more than make up for it. The maps look really detailed and dynamic (if that makes sense) compared to the very flat looking maps in the RNS. Also when you are in radio / media mode, the current location / street you are on appears across the top of the media screen, along with phone signal / phone battery info... very nice.

13. The interior ambient lighting - how can I put this - it is just the god damn nuts!! I've gone out every night so far just to sit into the car in the dark and admire it. My GF thinks I'm completely nuts, god knows what the neighbours think  ;D

I'm sure I'll think of more later...

Does it have a "Make the windscreen wipers work properly" function?   ;)

I know what your on about Bill
Given that Audi are in the same stable as VW is sounds much the same as my A1.
It pings when your running out of fuel and offers to guide you to the nearest petrol station and like you've pointed out, it comes up with distance but I'm sure they are they closest by actual route miles rather than as the crow flies.

One thing I like about the Audis phone prep high is, it goes online and tells you the price of the petrol stations close by so you can go to the cheapest if that's your thing

Hopefully VWs phone prep high will do something similar!

That's pretty cool!  I didn't spec phone prep though.  Do you mean the carnet thing?  I'm still not clear on if we get that or not or not yet but later or what...

Strange you should mention the sticker on the visor, i'm curious to know if we could just order a replacement visor from a LHD car?? the fittings should be the same and they only put the sticker on the passenger side i think??

I love the fact the media interface is GTI specific rather than just generic.

Are the automatic fold-in wing-mirrors standard?
