I don't like going. I had a piece break off a tooth years ago, but as it didn't hurt I didn't do anything about it until one day I bit on something and the hit the nerve, so I had to go. I turned up first thing without even ringing to make an appointment. He saw me straight away and put in a temporary filling and told me to go back in a couple of weeks. After around a month, the temporary filling was just starting to wear down. I quick google and I found that Boots sold DIY temporary filling kits, so I got one and kept patching it up myself...for 5 years.

Last year tho', enough was enough and I had to make an appointment as there was getting less and less tooth left to patch up. There was nothing for it but to take the tooth out. I'd heard all sorts of horror stories about extractions going wrong, but this one came straight out and I honestly didn't feel a thing.

I've needed a bit more work since as because I'd been avoiding chewing on the bad tooth for so long, I'd worn down the enamel on my front teeth. After working myself up into such an anxious state before, going to have this other work done was not quite as bad. I am determined to keep going and stay on top things before they get out of hand again. I still get worked up about going, but I find things like Rescue Remedy help no end as long as I does myself up a day or so before.

I had an upper rear wisdom tooth out a year or so ago and lay awake all night worrying about it and by the time my appointment came, lay down in that big chair with that light right in your puss I was ready to fall asleep. Was so relaxed and didn't even feel it come out. I just wish my lower wisdom tooth was the same but that was more like a scene from Saw IV and i'm due another lower wisdom out, well what left of it as there is nothing there. But because its a lower one I can see it and keep it really clean so never bothers me at all.

So I only went and got gum disease.

No abscessed tooth, the pain in from my upper wisdom tooth rupturing though. As I hadn't been to the dentist in years, he checked and that's when he said I have gum disease. On the plus side I've caught it at just the right time as it is reversible (apparently).

Seeing a hygienist next week who is going to clean the feck out of my mouth.

I had awful pain in two of my teeth last christmas, also after not visiting the dentist for several years due to thinking they were going to saw my head off or something daft like that so i found a nice new modern one and even though i had to have three teeth out it was nowhere near as bad as i thought it was going to be although it was quite painful for a few days afterwards, i'm quite happy to attend my six monthly visits now.

I hate the dentist too,  me and my wife go to the same practice but have different dentists, I had a problem with a tooth a while back and my dentist filled it for me, a few month later trouble from the same tooth, this went on for a further 3 visits even though I told him on the 2nd visit to rip it out, but he wouldn't have it saying you should keep as many teeth as possible. the last visit I had with this tooth, was with my wife's dentist,(mine was on hols) who told me it needed root canal work(£480) or an extraction (£61) I booked for the extraction, went in whilst he was still on hols and she ripped it out in 5 min. so I have a massive gap at the back but no pain........ . I feel sorry for hygenists, having to do their job,  + some of the sights they must see, now I brush my teeth and floss every day, yet she always takes ages when I visit, but theres a guy who I know who has quite big teeth and there disgusting, never brushes them or anything in fact I cant eat for a bit after talking to him as they make me heave, mouths filling up with pre- vom saliva as we speak....... hate to be the hygienist on that job............
