wide track can be 4 stud to. I wide tracked my old mk2 of a 95 mk3 diesel. but you can wide track without changing hubs. you just need the wishbones/driveshafts and steering rack and your good to go. but in answer to the original question. I would try winding the coilovers up about 5mm. might just be enough to clear the arches. and it is sitting kinda low at the front compared to the back.

Alright, great! Thanks for everyones help so far. I'm going to be putting springs and shocks on. Do any of you know what kind of price a garage would charge for fitting? Or is it easy enough to do it myself (pretty much a novice) and then take it for alignment etc after?
It's a mk2. Fill it, drive it, enjoy it.  :smiley:
