Park Assist is entirely different to normal parking sensors and will not be just a vag.com tweak. Park assist uses a different abs pump to normal, has a different control unit than normal parking sensors and will be virtually impossible to retro fit. A mate on the mytiguan forum tried it and it didnt work. Unfortunately if you havent specced it from factory you wont be able to have it. If im proved wrong then great for you guys that try.

I reckon even if you did retro fit it would cost considerably more than the £145 VW want for it? Just like the reverse cam on the mk6 was.

That's a shame. I'm guessing the park assist has 2 more sensors and maybe a different steering controller module to move your wheel then?

High Beam Assist seems more likely to be a simple upgrade through VAG then. Unless a different sensor is used for the headlight detection. I'd imagine the rest of the hardware needed is on the car already.
Current - MK7 Golf GTI - Tornado Red, 5 Door, DSG, Performance Pack, Dynamic Chasis Control, Panoramic Sunroof, Discover Navigation, Dynaudio.

On Order - MK7 Golf R - Pearlescent Black, 3 Door, DSG, Vienna Leather, Discover Nav Pro, Rear View Camera, High Beam Assist, Keyless Entry, Dynaudio (Tech Pack)

All gone.

Now;

MK7 Golf R - Lapiz Blue, 5 Door, DSG, Carbon Nappa, Discover Nav Pro.

As Jimble has said high beam assist uses a black and white camera mounted behind rear view mirror so would be difficult to retro fit as screen is also slightly different where camera is positioned

Yes, no need to be like that. But it sounded like everyone was just guessing whether or not it's an extra camera behind the rear view mirror and there was a possibility that its standard. Something we wouldn't know until we see a demo with and one without.

If its a different screen than I guess it would be ridiculously expensive to spec after then. That puts it completely off the cards.

Missed your post mike, sorry. That's interesting then. You'd be looking at a good £500 to retro fit it seems then? Didn't realise so much tech went into turning the high beam on and off automatically!

So to sum up, you need a new sensor, a different type of xenon and possibly a different windscreen? Ouch.

Presumably it's complex because they want to avoid the sort of problem of the infamous automatic lights that flash other drivers every time the car went under a bridge etc...
