i've fixed the link, its in device manger

what he said, right click my computer > left click manage > when the window appears click device manager > ports usb/serial device (i think) and goto properties (i think)
cant really tell without the lead plugged in from the top of my head... :tongue:

this is for windows 7
Connect the cable to the laptop.
Right click on ‘my computer’,
Left click on ‘manage’,
Left click on ‘device manager’ (on the left hand side)
Left click on arrow for ‘Ports (COM & LPT)’
Right click on ‘USB serial Port (COM )’ (there will be a number after COM)
Left click on ‘properties’
Left click on ‘Port settings’
Left click ‘Advanced’
Latency Timer is in the BM Options select 12 (thats what i use)
Left click ‘OK’
Left click ‘OK’

Sorry, it may just be me...do you mean there is no communication at all when you try to select different ports in the test screen on vagcom?

I am able to check engine, HVAC and instruments, when I try to scan anything else being engine II, III, electrics, I get the communication failed message

Probably because those modules aren't installed in your car  :whistle:

You can only communicate with stuff thats actually fitted

Dont forget VAGCOM is used across the VAG group and therefore other cars have more or less modules fitted
