Abt Power increase
« on: 19 June 2013, 13:46 »
For those owners with fire in their bellies, you'll be interested to know that Abt now have a remap available for the GTI in The Fatherland but even more interested to know that they still rate the PP GTI as 10bhp/PS higher after after the remap.
Click link then click on the .pdf files for the power graphs and stats.

Nice price.
Looks to be piggy back ECU too rather than ECU flash, hence a lot of the cost.

I did put up a mk7 modifications thread on here some time ago but can find it now.

Wow, nearly €2,400 just to knock 0.3 seconds off the 0-100 time and an additional 6mph top end..... seems like an awful lot of money to me for not a lot of extra go ?

Going from 220 to 290 PS says to me they're being very conservative and I'd imagine the torque figure would mean the in gear performance would be improved massively and quite possibly the rolling performance.

Do they stipulate manual only at that output? Aren't DSGs only rated to 260PS?
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

No you can boost the DSG up higher than the manual as the clutches are beefier and the DSG can be tuned also with its own ECU modifications (not seen these mods released yet - early days).
What surprised me was the fact the modified ECU still rated the PP 10PS higher than the standard GTI. That either spells that ABT are being conservative (typically German) about figures and just publishing a 'worst case' like VW do or there is something else in the PP (unlikely) that is responsible for the extra 10PS.

And then there were those reports the the PP diff (VAS?) could only handle 250 bhp. So the plot thickens!!

Oh, and the fact the two cars have different engine codes. Hmmmm....

Same for the performance pack, specifically the LSD, isn't that also only rated to 260PS?

I still don't get how the LSD is coping with that.

Either VW are wrong about the max power it can handle (bit of a risk) or they've done something to prevent it being overloaded...?

Where did and in what context was this 260hp limit quoted from?
