From a standing start 4WD launch will see off the Edition 35 and other cars with more power fwd/rwd.
A stage 1 TSI GTI will probably be faster than a stock R from a roll despite typically mapping to less than 265 ps.
On a roll I think the Edition 35 will be quicker which is where the weight will count more along with additional transmission losses as a result of power to an extra two wheels.
The engine in the Edition 35 with stage 2 can see 300 + bhp but traction will be an issue.
If petrol consumption isn't massively important and you're after big figures I would say the R is the best best. The FWD chassis is a little compromised above GTI stage 1 imo without further mods and this won't be better in the ED35 with more power than a GTI.
Also doesn't it rain a lot in this place?

As you can probably tell I am a fan of the R but didn't want the fuel penalties as a daily driver/business miles.
Both cars are fairly rare, I think I've seen maybe 1 Ed35 and 2-3 Golf R's on the roads since release.
