Some questions on AUQ GTI
« on: 12 June 2013, 20:30 »
Hi Folks,

As posted in an other section, i got a gti last night. Long story short, drove it home then engine management light came on.

Today I have noticed a lumped idle slightly and a slight missfire on idle. Now and again missed a beat when fut down. However, it drives great and goes. Been in 1.8t's alot and doesn't feel any different at this point.

My mate scanned it at his garage today and threw up 7 fault codes. As I said, no EML when I drove the car away from the seller until I got home.  I think he reset the codes so the lights went off. I never took a note of them, but 3 codes where for cylinder 1,2,4 misfiring.

Now I am doubting that all 3 coil packs have went, like I said, it drives sweet, just on the idle you can feel the miss fire.

Now I got home tonight and scanned with my ebay vagcom and produced this. Please note the EML was not on when I scanned it with vagcom tonight.

Address 01     -------------------------------------------------------
   Controller: 06A 906 032 HN
   Component: 1.8L R4/5VT         0002
   Coding: 11510
   Shop #: WSC 01271
   WVWZZZ1JZ3W218869     VWZ6Z0B0262602
2 Faults Found:
16891 - Idle Control System RPM Higher than Expected.
            P0507 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
16486 - Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70): Signal too Low
            P0102 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
Readiness: 0010 1101

Address 03     -------------------------------------------------------
   Controller: 1C0 907 379 M
   Component: ESP FRONT MK60      0102
   Coding: 0019970
   Shop #: WSC 01271
1 Fault Found:
01314 - Engine Control Module
            013 - Check DTC Memory - Intermittent

Address 08     -------------------------------------------------------
   Controller: 3B1 907 044 C
   Component: CLIMATRONIC     C 2.0.0
   Coding: 11000
   Shop #: WSC 01271
1 Fault Found:
01274 - Air Flow Flap Positioning Motor (V71)
            37-10 - Faulty - Intermittent

No other address's had faults. As you can see, no misfiring faults. On the first scan by my mate, it also had a code about lean mixture. Apologies, I should have taken note of it.

Now over the past 24 hours, the things I have noticed, climate control, ac, etc...all work bang on. The car sometimes idles normal around 800, sometimes, 950 and some times 1100 along with the slight misfire. I think it needs a new thermostat as the temp never gets to 90 unless sitting idleing.

Some hissing from the front of the car bay (rear of engine I guess) which I am thinking is an air leak, It sounds like underneath the injector rail, but I cant get allen keys until tomorrow.

Also this morning the ESP light came on and stayed on. At lunch went out and started it up and the light went off?? It hasnt came back on and this was before the scanning. It turns on as normal for testing.

I put £15 of vpower in it last night and towards the end of the day today when running empty, there were some knocks from the engine when ideling, but was all good when driving. I have just went and put £20 of shell normal 95 and the knocking is gone. I scanned with vagcom after running it with the normal 95.

Please note the car is fully stock and no remap either.

I thinking the knocking was down to the fuel? And something to do with the misfire. I read a few topics last night (after putting vpower in it...and the general response was to use 95 with a stock map?

Any advice or feedback would be appreciated. I realise that the post is very long...so thanks for reading. Just going to do some googling on the fault codes.

Thanks
Liam

Like take it to VW?

Just scanned the car with it running. Same 4 fault codes as above. Im am thinking Vpower had some part in this. Going to try unplugging the maf this now.

Have just taken a video of it running. Will try and get onto utube shortly.

Thanks

just phone any vw dealer an ask if your car has any outstanding recalls for anything i.e coil packs

Spot on. Took the plug out, started it and its purring like it should be, other small engine vibration, but not as bad when plugged in.

Turned the car off, connect the maf again, started up and reverted back to what it has been doing.

New maf I guess. It doesnt help when it shouts service now too. Its being serviced on Saturday.

Thanks
