The City of Rotterdam is now in port of Tyne's schedule, to arrive at Tyne dock 4pm tomorrow, so it must be setting off from Emden this evening. Not sure if my car will be on it. Whilst trying to sort out VW finance (settling the Scirocco finance), I came in through VW UK to see if they could put me through any quicker than sitting in a queue for an hour (which I had done twice that day). Whilst I had them on the phone, I enquired about my GTD – did they know whether it was going to make it onto the City of Rotterdam, was it scheduled for loading etc.
They didn’t know whether it would or wouldn’t be on that ship, when they put me on hold to talk to sales, it seems that the sales team didn’t know whether it would be on that ship, or any particular ship. All they could tell me was my car has been at Emden since last Tuesday and anything up to a 15 day wait at dockside for a ship is normal.
The tracker hasn’t updated from 3 weeks. Not sure whether this would update to “1 week” when the ship is loading and your car’s place on it is confirmed, or when the car is loaded, or when the ship leaves port. I think I should find out tomorrow if it is on there, and if not I’ll have to assume that the whole “priority shipping” line that Simon Thomson’s office rep fed me was sh!te.
Looks like the "city of Paris" will be coming from Emden to Tyne on 6th Sept (it is on Tyne's arrivals itinery from Emden, but isn't on Emden's arrivals - should get there later today from Amsterdam), so maybe it'll be on that it it doesn't make it onto city of Rotterdam.
