I would be very surprised if DPB is a minority colour

I think everything is minority next to Pure White. It does seem huge coincidence that 3 out of 4 earlybirds are DBP, but colour choice could be nothing more than coincidence (cue impatient GTI/GTD orderees changing their colour to DBP en-masse!).

Baza's has been built in CSG within 8 weeks of order placement, including a colour change a few weeks into the ordering process.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

Mine is DBP, so could make sense I guess.

The demand for white is very high I suppose.

Checked tracker today and its arrived at dealer!

Dave

Unfortunately no, I guess they will have to PDI it, and it would be Monday till it would be ready?

That said it won't be till later next, till I get chance to collect.

Will post some pics though!

Dave

Dave, I am so jealous its unreal

Lots of pics please when you get it (tomorrow?!)

Got a courtesy car from my dealer to tell me that my dad's car was not only at Emden dock, but it was fully released for shipping, meaning it can hop onto the next ship heading for Tyne Dock. Not sure why the dealer felt the need to phone me about my dad's car, but I took the chance to wind him up a little about him "rubbing it in" when my car is still stuck at BW33. The good news is that he didn't say mine had slipped any.

Anyway, I had a look at the Port of Tyne website and there are 2 ships from Emden arriving to the Port of Tyne (PoT) in the next 3 days (so my dads car should be on one of them) and these are:-

City of Paris - arriving at PoT 23 June 15:00
City of Amsterdam - arriving at PoT 24 June 18:00

Bearing in mind that the dealership is only 8 miles from PoT I think it could be ready for pick-up as soon as Weds/Thurs next week.

Err, can we take the opportunity to wind you up about rubbing it in?  Even at BW33 yours is going to be built almost 2 months before mine!  Dontcha just love VW? heh heh heh

Confirmed for Friday pick up next week.

Dealer says that I was 3rd GTi to be ordered and those first 2x are still way off build weeks yet too?

Woah!  Unless those first 2 played around with their orders, thus triggering delays (for no rational reason, but I digress) then this blows the "dealer allocation is the dominant reason to explain inconsistent build estimates" theory right out of the water.

And that would leave us with no reason whatsoever, but to assume VW have a random number generator (or any system producing the equivalent result*) that they are using to determine which the next car to be built will be.

*For example, all cars same colour done same week would effectively be a random generator since we can safely assume the distribution of colour choices is random, and is not correlated with order date (or anything else).

Great news Dave... Hopefully a week won't seem like enternity.

Looks like VW are using a "Lottery" ball system with regards to production
