pcv simplification
« on: 27 May 2013, 19:48 »
has anyone here removed the pipe which comes from the bottom of the block and goes to the underneath of the inlet manifold?.. there is a check valve on the bottom end of the pipe to stop boost pressure from entering the bottom end.
This one:

I currently have an oil catch tank in place, it takes off from where the hockey puck pipe came from, the Y peice top right of the rocker cover. then from the oil catch tank to where the hockey puck used to live on the TIP.
with the pipe mentioned still in place, the engine can still take in oil vapours when it is under Vacuum conditions.
have any other pcv simplifiers removed this pipe too and what have you done to remove this pipe?.. I was thinking of using something like these blanking caps http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Silicone-Hose-End-Caps-2-Pack-Blanking-Plug-Bung-Rubber-Finisher-Steel-Braided-/270967905450?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&var=&hash=item3f16f21caa
of the correct size to do a delete.

yeah get rid of it and just blank the pipe off...... i pulled the nipple out the mani and tapped a thread into it then jb welded a bolt into it
also get rid of the check valve its attatched to... the pcv valve.... the whole point to doing the catch can mod

you should have the pipe from bottom of block teeing into the pipe from the rocker cover then into catch can, then out the catch can and into hockey puck and into tip. (i have read various comments about leaving the puck in or removing it and i dont know what is best, atm i have removed it but kept it just in case)

hope this helps!!!

lol, only just realised this thread had a reply, thanks rio.
i`m going to use that nipple to feed boost to the N75, it does work trust me
what did you use to block the check valve underneath?..

or just blank off the feed on the TIP and stick a filter on the outflow for the catch can, vent it back to atmosphere, i'm trying to design an easier drain with a stop valve as im getting p!ssed off with taking my mount apart to get it drained

i just stuck a silicone blanking cap on my drain off. just pull it off to drain.
as for capping the TIP inlet, i`d rather not as i`d like a bit of vac to pull the vapours to the catch can..

this is true, down to personal preference then really, but i'm extending a silicone pipe to behind the wheel arch with a stop valve half way down regardless, its starting to piss me off lol

the ammount of vac that is sucking from the tip i doubt an extra 4mm hose will make much difference

lol i think he ment he would rather keep the line from the catch can to the TIP for the vac to pull the air through the can.

you remove the check valve completely!!!
