« on: 22 May 2013, 02:46 »
Right i changed my master cylinder the weekend but it still hits the floor and dose not come up when i first get in the car it only seems to come bk up after pumping it for about 30secs (have to bring it bk up with my foot for the first cople of times ) i am going to try and bleed the system again the weekend but if i still have no luck i will have to change the slave cylinder  i was wondering how hard is it to take a gear box out of a golf as i cant seem to find anyone on hear that has put a HOW TO (DIY) on how to take one out i have a mk4 golf 1.8t AUQ 6speed if any one has a link to a how to that would be brill as i have searched google and have no luck :(

i dont think it`s a gearbox out job to change the slave cylinder. if i remember correctly its bolted to the outside of the gearbox near the gear shift linkage.
i could be terribly wrong again though..lol

i`m probably wrong tbh, ive had the box out of my 5speed agu before but can`t 100% remember..
someone will probably come along with the correct answer soon enough
EDIT: just checked my 02j box and the slave cylinder IS bolted to the outside with 2x 10mm bolts.

If it is jut bolted on the outside i will be so happy lol i dont fancy taking the box out cus if i was going to take the box out i was going to do the clutch at the same time and that would of been more money lol

its bolted on the outside. look to see if its leaking brake fluid or if your break fluid level is low. changing them is quite easy its bleeding them that is quite a pain!
