Hey all. Ive put a deposit down on a Mk6 GTD, hopefully concluding the sale this Wednesday and I cant wait! Been 2 years without a car, so Im itching to get in this thing and drive, drive, drive - that will be helped by the fact I am now on 2 weeks vacation from work.

But, its missing a couple of things that I'd like, so Im going to have to do a couple of retrofits. One thing I would like is cruise.

There was a thread a while back about certain 2011 models not being able to have cruise retrofitted, but I think this was eventually resolved and is not a problem any more? Ive plugged the VIN in to a couple of check/decoder websites and they all say its a 2012 model, though the reg is 61.

Anyhow, Im wondering if there are any guides or if someone can help me decode the information on the sticker in the boot to determine the features and model number etc. I have a picture of the sticker that I took today if that helps?

Just want to make sure Im not buying a retrofit lemon that I wont be able to make any better.

Think I may be able to answer some of my own questions here.

After doing some more reading around (maybe I should have put more effort in before posting here... der) I think I can conclude from the VIN that its an MY12 (year letter C), and although the label in the boot is damaged on one side, I did manage to extract most of the feature codes and found a website that decodes them. So that mystery is sorted.

Engine model CFGB which is the latest, or at least one of the latest.

Retrofit wise Im looking at adding cruise control, RCD510 DAB, and bluetooth/hands free.

If anyone has any tips/suggestions/links to handy thread, would love to hear them. Will continue reading around to see what I can come up with. :-)

I asked my dealer if they could fit cruise control. They said it would depend on when the car was built. Before week 45 of 2010 no problem. After week 45 of 2010 you need another module which is about £350 plus the switch plus fitting a coding.

If you write down all the groups of 3 characters of the Options sticker on the boot floor or have the first page of the service schedule open and type them into VW/Audi/Seat/Škoda Option Codes Decoder seperated by a semicolon (;) you will see what was fitted to your vehicle when it left the factory. There is an example on the intructions link you can copy and paste in there.

Hi Keith.

Thanks for the response.

I asked the dealer I am looking to buy from, and they said they could fit cruise for no more than £85 for the new stalk and £180 in labour. There was no mention of any additional modules though...

This sounded promising to me (although I might not get them to do it with that much labour cost), but it sounds like maybe they have missed something? Should I ask them to double check?

For my sticker, these are the codes I managed to extract:

B0N;CR8;G0K;H6L;J0N;D93;1AT;1G9;2FJ;1NL;5RV;5SJ;TL4;0BE;3U1;QG1;8AE;8GU;8ZH;1KD;1ZA;G07;7MG;4Y3;4R4;4K3;N2T;5MD;2JQ;E0A;0AE;2UC;2G5;L58;0YC

But as you can see from this picture, the sticker is a bit damaged so I cant get all of them off:

http://uk-svc.snnap.net/stuff/options.jpeg

But are you saying there is a second copy located in the service schedule? Where would this be located? (Ive moved over from Australia, and everything seems to have a different name over here, so excuse the confusion. :))

My pick up date has also moved from Wednesday to Thursday, too.

Thanks!

Tom, there should be a copy of that sticker in the front page of your service booklet.

If you write down all the groups of 3 characters of the Options sticker on the boot floor or on the first page of the service schedule

I've already said its on the first page of the service schedule.

Looking at the characters you have entered in looks similar to mine but you have.

TL4 - 4-cylinder diesel engine 2.0 l unit 03L.L
4Y3 - Storage box and safe box
4R4 - Power windows with comfort operation and circuit breaker
4K3 - Radio remote controlled central locking operated from inside and safe securing
N2T - Fabric seat covering
5MD - Decorative aluminum inserts
2JQ - Sports bumpers
E0A - No special edition
0AE - Front stabilizer
2UC - Sports version
2G5 - Filler neck module 1 without insert
L58 - Suspension range 58 installation control only, no requirement forecast
0YC - Weight range 3 installation control only, no requirement forecast

If you want to look at the list of Option codes and know what they mean then download VAG Option Codes

The radio I am likely interested in. Can you get a price and PM to me? Also a nice high quality photo so I can see the condition it is in?

As for the bluetooth .. I suppose if you can get a price for that too. Though as I understand it, the premium kit does r-SAP, which requires another antenna - maybe a bit more work than I am looking for.

I think it also does standard bluetooth audio which would be fine and is what I am interested in more so, so I would just ignore the r-SAP functionality.

Thanks.
