im in a similar situation, lost my only key to mine last week, its also got an after market clifford alarm on there.

i called out an auto locksmith who got me a key that works for the locks, but no immobiliser chip, as couldnt program one to it cos the alarm was going off. so i just disconnected the battery to stop the alarm going off for the meantime.

i am gunna have to try and get an alarm guy to come out and take it out properly then get the key guy to come back and hopefully programme an immobiliser chip to it so i can actually use it again. although he aid he might not be able to do it cos of the age of the car, and might have to send the immobiliser box off for a week with the new key. so im not sure what i would do if thats the case. all a bit complicated and bloody irritating! tax out at the end of the month and mot soon, not good.

if you still got the login code (small plastic tag that you'd get with the keys when you buy a car new, maybe VW can request this for you also) you can get the keys recoded
alarm you can probably just disconnect and bring back to original state (you'll see where wires were cut etc).

My old Golf also had an alarm - horn under the bonnet, electronics box connected up in the central electrics section, the control unit sat above the central electrics.

take off fuse/relay box cover, undo the two small pieces of trim under the steering wheel, then undo the screws (i think there's 5 or 6 philips heads) then take the bottom dash trim off (Will fall off after undoing the screws).

Then look up over central electrics box and follow the wires. it will become reasonably clear what to disconnect and where you have to reconnect wires that were cut and the alarm set in series.

i have looked at my alarm before, there a control unit under there is it as simple as just desplicing the wires where they have been joined?... but arent some alarms connected up to the fuel pumps or other things to stop the car from starting if the alarm if attempted to be broken? not that i think my alarm has a particularly complicated system

If I was to get a new conlog/logic 900 fob is there a way to program it to my old control box?
