nope dh we will be fully insured, haven't checked if my insurance covers me abroad yet (think it does but need to check this years insurance docs) but will be buying insurance for that if it does not and already looked into a few different track insurers that cover the nurburgring.
The policies you're looking at only offer first party insurance. That doesn't cover the German biker who just went down on your coolant and is now dead/disabled.
You need a 'normal' insurance policy that covers you for road use, if you're going out to do Touristenfahren. It's a normal road in German law. Almost all UK insurers have now excluded TF in their policies through wording.
We are all tarred with the same brush by our insurers now.
Legally they have to cover TF as it's under German road law.
Contractually they have written it out, so they will come after you to reclaim their losses on a third party claim.
You will get reamed if this happens.
Hire a Swift or something similar, or do a track day in your Golf.
It's the only way of ensuring you're not putting yourself at a massive risk.
Or take your car round, but appreciate it's a massive risk and you are not effectively covered by your insurance.
If you're still planning on that, read this:
http://www.leeds-solicitors.com/nurburgring_insurance.htmlAnd take Mr Thompson's phone number with you, in case the worst happens.
If you haven't been before - don't do it on TF in your own car.
You will get excited.
The red mist will come down.
You will go visit the barriers.
Probably.
