Window Issue
« on: 17 May 2013, 09:22 »
So, my driver's side window doesn't like to respond to me pressing the button up or down half the time I used it. I noticed that when it doesn't work there is no click from the door like there is from the passenger side.

Does this indicate a relay?

What do I need to get from a scrappy as it's pissing me off, I just want the window to go up and down when I want it to, not when it wants to! (Drive Thrus at McDonalds can be awkward.)

Have you taken the door sides off? Loose connection to the buttons?

The connection to the switch is fine, I've had the door card on and off plenty of times since owning the car for over two years, but this has always been the same. It's very intermittent.

If there is no click, then maybe the switch/buttons themselves are defunct. Should be cheap to get from a scrappy, and easy to replace.

I've got two switches and both do the same. When I say click I mean a click from within the door, not the actually button you press down. :)

I've actually got to replace the whole loom this weekend anyway as I have a loom with the wiring for puddle lights to go in. Maybe it's in the wiring like you think. :)

Try taking of the plug on the actual motor and giving it a good clean. I cleaned the switch plug and the motor plug on one of my doors and this solved the problem. It has been working for a whole year now and no problems...

Important question-does the window go up/down with the key in the lock?

I'll give that a go whilst I'm at it.

I just checked and the window does go up and down with the key. What would that suggest?
