Rear Brakes
« on: 07 August 2005, 10:54 »
Hi guys,
need some help again!
I bought rear calipers and trying to fit them was a real pain, the handbrake cable goes in a different way so I would think I would need handbrake cables that are a bit longer? does this sound right? bought the calipers really cheap so might be worth spending a few bob on new handbrake cables
any help or advise would be appreciated
cheers

Think somewhere in the region of 87/88 the cables changed, not sure exactly what year.  Dubslug is correct though, the earlier cables were shorter :)

Easy to convert between them though, if early buy early cables, if late buy the late cables.

What rear calipers did you buy ? if you bought mk3 ones or later mk2 ones 89 onwards ( i think ) , you will need the longer handbrake cables ... about £8 each (you'll need two) ... from Eurocarparts.

Easy (ish) job... just a bit fiddly.. easier job if there are 2 of you ..
