any DJs in here?

im after some advice. i REALLY want to learn the basics of mixng music etc not for pro use but for pleasure. i think i have a ''feel'' for music it just i have no idea what id need to start learning how to loop/mix etc. ive got virtual DJ. but i cant get my head round how for example this is done (yes i know these mega pros)

are they recording certain parts from the original editing them and then using them over a base backing?

how are they able to turn the whole backing and tone etc instantly  :huh:

alot seem to have a longish build up of quite a fast bassy lead up to the main hit are these pre mixed samples then put together on the live mix? can thsi stuff be done with home laptop software etc

i wont ask much more unless some here knows how to do Doing  :laugh:

any tips and advice on this stuff be great remb i just want to learn and have fun etc

He is using the Effects on the mixer, which looks like a Pioneer DJM 800 (one of the industry standards)


My advice is get rid of Virtual DJ its sh!te

Get your self a pair of Techncs 1210s and a mixer and learn the art of real mixing first..  Walk before u can run and all that malarky

If you are scared of real vinyl then go for a pair of CD decks, Pionners, CDJ 1000mk3s or newer

any more help just ask, coz yes i am a DJ and a promotor and have had many of the worlds biggest DJs play at my nights

Yer will want it cd based. And ye i know the link there is of a beastiegod DJ but id like as you said to learn how to mix 2 tracks together that proberly be a start really. Can i have a tutorial for you lol

A cheap and effective setup would be using a DJ controller running either Traktor or Serato software both have very good effects, looping, easy to use and feels close to a hardware CD deck & mixer.

Avoid using the sync features to learn beat matching tho  :wink:
