Smokers pack on the golf is very similar to the A3's I.e. you get a small plastic lidded removeable  "cup" that slots into one of the front cup holders (although not a nice shiney chrome one like the Audi -just plain black plastic), and instead of a cover for the 12v accessory socket behind the handbrake switch, you get a cigarette lighter instead.

Out of interest, you said you are ordering the climate windscreen but no mention of the advanced phone package that VW are saying you have to have as well. Have you ordered this too (at a combined price of approx £600 for the pair), or did the dealer let you order the windscreen as an option on its own ?

Purely looks as it seems on the GTD that the ashtray housing seamlessly sweeps around opposed to a hole and cup holder?

Mine is a lease option and the ordering system has it as a standalone option though they might come back and hit me with that one still and if that the case I would decline as nice as is £600 for the addition of a phone package would never use is not worth it - Will let you know how the order goes through as I will get the confirmation.

And thank you! clearer now and the smokers pack a definite no now then as not what imagined and very much a drop off from the Audi - Think the interior overall is not as slick as the Audi but it is still quality and feel gaining far far more than losing ..

That clears it up completely and an option going to very much let go! - And recognise you now off Audi Sport Net Mr 'sootchucker' as you were one who drew my attention to the GTD with your post explaining why you moved from the Audi Sportback we were both convinced we were getting - Its been a long process but feel very comfortable after 5 years of Audi on moving to VW for this GTD. :)

I have just ordered it and now the wait begins! Will let everyone know on confirmation of order and any date given.

1. 5 door GTD DSG
2. Pure White
3. Discover navigation + European map data
4. Climate comfort windscreen (Even if just clears mist quickly, worth every penny as drives me nuts!)
5. Winter Pack
8. Rest standard :)

Smoking pack was definitely something to do on the Scirocco, tidied the lower dash right up, but on the Golf here, it just looks like a plastic cup has been inserted into one of the cup holders.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

That is exactly what my thinking was, as last thing wanted was a great big hole spoiling the interior lines but as it is a plastic cup in the holder we move on! :)

Had confirmation of my order being received but not finalised so expect that Monday - Read on official price list today that GTD has it printed on brake caliper which was unexpected bomus as thought it was GTi on PP only ..

More I read on what ordered the better I feel about moving from A3 to GTD

Looking forward to the first ones being received and photos going up from those who ordered early ..

As expected really and sadly I think as should be down to buyers choice, had a call today explaining my Climate Comfort Screen will need the Advanced Phone Pack to be ordered. - Which to pay another 50% + on top of screen cost for something I would seriously never use has had me bin it, because as nice as would have been it really is not worth the additional expense.

So, and despite my protestations in other posts that the GTD ride will likely be more than fine in standard form I have removed the Screen and added ACC instead given the strong reviews on the ACC on MK7 being very noticeable in how it adjusts in all modes and how many here genuinely swear by it.

As well as being able to use the 3 modes pretty sure will set up and define a sport on everything/comfort suspension for town roads which round here are abysmal.

but thats is now, no going back! New Order
