The only trouble is I haven't finished machining my spring compressors yet and my old man CBA to look for his  :undecided:
I'll at least be able to get the existing shocks out tonight anyway, I'm only doing the rears for now.

The new rear shocks I have (FK Sport) feature an M12 thread whilst the Konis I've taken off are M10, so I need new top mounts. Can anyone tell me which size is standard please?

I plugged the ABS light back in and it stays on so there's definitely a fault, time to get this stupid VCDS working!!

I've made some now, they do the trick just lovely. Thanks though!
I forgot to look at the pitch of the M12 thread last night and brought home some M12x1.75 nuts which don't fit. Will have to make some M12x1.25 nuts tomorrow instead

As tomorrow is the last day of the 10-day retest fee, I rang the garage and told them that it won't be ready in time so they'll do the new MOT for £25, result

Got my new VAGCOM cable today which works! It's showing both left ABS wheel sensors (codes 283 and 290) as faulty so I've cleared the codes and will take it round the block and check them again. Finally some progress!
Everything else has been sorted on the car so once these are sorted it can go back in for it's MOT.

I remember one bodge for an ABS light I've seen is an LED with a resistor put on the aitbag light wires and placed loosely behind the ABS light screen hence they both lit of for a few seconds and then went out.

Where all my moneys went.

Haha now that's smart! My car is a non airbag model though

Took it for a spin after clearing the codes and only the rear left is showing a fault now. The codes were last cleared a year ago so I'm not sure if the front left was an anomaly at some point or if it simply hasn't thrown an error up yet...
