Fuel tank removal...or just dropping..
« on: 26 April 2013, 08:58 »
As per my previous thread, (scrapping the GTi), I need to either drop the tank...or remove it..anyone done this..Haynes say, depressurise...and remove exhaust etc etc, but they are doin a complete strip down, all I need to do is get to the top of the tank to get to the brake pipe that goes over it..(or under depending on what way you look at it) easy job? Can I drop it, then get to the pipe via the sender hole in the car under the seats...any advice is appreicated

I can't answer your question exactly but to remove the tank you need to drop the axle

As above the only access point is for the fuel pump.
