I think there's some jealousy involved here

Jealousy, yes, but sensibility is prevailing.

I had a corrado vr6 when I was 19, I was paying £1000 insurance too. Which I thought was cheap, but filling up £70 a week was not cheap lol.

That's cheap for insurance for something like that at his age! I remember when I was 19 and had the GTI, that was 3k, my friend was 20 and bought a Leon Cupra K1, that was also 3k.

Sod the running costs if its a daily, but overall nice.

I'd be refurbing the wheels back to silver but other than that it looks tidy, and the fact that it's "an old mans chav car" is probably why the insurance is as cheap as it is.

I do wonder how long he'll keep his license though? :-X

Nice car! as others have said it's his choice and his money, mostly fuel moeny I'd imagine

No point stressing yourself out about his choice. As long as he lets you drive it every so often then just enjoy it. He will love it but he will resent you if you try and make him feel guilty about having it. We've all made bad choices with money, one of the worst choice I made was not spending it on what I wanted and then not having the chance to spend it again.

I understand your worry about his safety/licence etc but he will learn, hopefully not the hard way.

Chris
Wouldn't be fun if it was easy, but does it have to be this much fun?

some of the stuff said in here is BS.

when I was 17 I went straight out and bout a mk4 golf gti for my first car. everyone said theyd give me a month before it was written off, one month ago it was sold after 2 years.

so give him the benefit of the doubt. you can crash anything, be it a 1.2 clio or a v8 mustang. aslong as hes sensible he will be fine, and if hes his arse will soon start twitching and he will learn to be sensible (hopefully).

nice car, wheels need a refurb mind :D

now go ask for a go :D
