Wirewound vs Metal Film Resistor for n249 delete

I have been looking into the best resistor to fit when deleting the n249 valve and everyone seems to go for a 10w 330r ceramic WW.

I found this resistor at maplins that I think will be up for the job, if my maths is any good, but its a metal film resistor.

How does a metal film resistor differ to a wirewound? (apart from the obvious) and Is it as safe as a wirewound resistor for the n249 delete?

I bypassed the valves and left them plugged in, not had any error codes in the 12 months since I did the bypass.

Yeah i have aswell but have recently been getting an open circuit for that whole loom there is a break somewhere. Dalo Harkin recommended I try deleting the n249 as when he just bypassed his it caused his car to run funny until he fit a resistor.

you need one with a heat sink, wouldnt like to try that but you could always be a ginuepig!!

As I understand it everyone goes for 10w to stop them getting too hot, when in reality theres about 0.6w going through them. Even so how hot can they really get with 14.4v?

haha spend alot of time looking under the bonnet then?  lol I know what you mean, I was gonna just wrap it in a load of elecrtical tape to stop the cement shaking loose and just pretend it isnt there. Or depending on how big they are I might try and hide it in the connector...
