Bulbs
« on: 06 April 2013, 13:12 »
Have changed 1 H7 blub on the car but am unsure what the other 2 bulbs in the same housing unit are? w5w and H7?

I want to change the yellow look. The H7 100w ones I have are ace.

Are the H7 also to be used for the fog lights?

The Main beam/DRL is a H15 and there is not yet a 'white' replacement, Autobulbs are working on one at the present.

See thread below:

http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?142679-Gauging-interest-White-Upgrade-bulb-H15-DRL-high-beam-on-non-Xenon-Mk6-Golf

The sidelight is a W5W bulbs and there are whiter bulbs available.

The fog light bulb is I think a H8 bulb

You have to remove the mirror by prizing it off which can be a bit daunting.

Here is a link to how you get into the mirror housing.

I'd be wary about fitting 100W bulbs as the current draw may be a bit too much for the threadlike wiring and Can-Bus.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

Better to use 55 watt Osram Nightbreakers or Phillips, rather than 100 watt bulbs. The Day running Lights are combined bulb with high beam and are H15 fitment. There are no better replacements for them at present.

Is it the same fitment as the other bulb H7 (day time running light area)? It looks it from outside the headlight but haven't taken it out yet

No, as the others have said before, it's a H15 and no one makes an upgrade for it...yet.
